On the UN Day, being inspired by Our Common Agenda, a new UN Secretary-General’s report, we launched "ООНлайн" - a series of expert discussions.
The discussions will gather Belarusian and international experts representing global policy, scientific perspective and practical local solutions, who will try to answer the questions such as what the governments, business and society at large can do to solve the global challenges of climate change, inequality and COVID-19 pandemic.
The theme of our first discussion is solidarity in the era of coronavirus. The word we live in is becoming increasingly interconnected and what is going on in a single country will inevitably have a direct impact on the global progress. Will the pandemic be able to help us build a more just and sustainable world? In what way should we reform global organizations to make them more effective? What’s the experts’ assessment of the WHO effectiveness at the start of the pandemic? In what way is the political agenda of the states changing now?
Participants:
- Helen Clark, 37th Prime Minister of New Zealand, former UN Under-Secretary-General and Administrator of the UN Development Programme.
- Hans Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe
- Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Belarus.
